Cameron Hall
Managing Director
Cameron Hall is the Director and founder of Smith & Hall. With over 17 years of expertise in business and financial management as well as a Bachelor of Business (Economics) and a Master of Business Administration, Cameron has the knowledge to conduct the thorough analysis required in this unique approach to the art business. Cameron is in high demand on the public speaking circuit and is generally regarded as one of Australia’s thought leaders in the art investment field. He has conducted art investment seminars with several of Australia’s largest private banks and been a special guest presenter at a number of national investment expos and art exhibitions. He has also been featured on Kochie’s small business builders on Channel 7 as well as being quoted regularly in other media outlets such as The Australian, The Age and the Australian Financial Review. Cameron is supported and inspired by the other half of Smith & Hall, his wife Tiffany and their three young children, Imogen, Stella and Seth.
Tiffany Hall
Head of Communications
Tiffany is part of the ‘brains trust’ with Cameron the other half of Smith & Hall. As an avid art collector, art lover and supporter of the creative arts and with a passion for beautiful things, Tiffany brings a certain sparkle to Smith & Hall. Professionally, her background is in private client retail and fashion where she has managed high couture fashion operations and understand the needs of high end clients. Tiffany is an integral team member at Smith & Hall and inspires most of the staff to strive for better client outcomes in their everyday dealings. She remains a passionate art collector especially when new and emerging talent is found either in Aboriginal art or photography. Tiffany maintains her balance as a mother of three by working part-time at Smith & Hall.
Alison Hardy
Head of Marketing
Turning her back on wet weather and bad coffee, Alison left England in 1995 with qualifications in art and design and a head full of big ideas. With a first stop in Amsterdam for 4 years, she then headed for the warmer climate of Sydney, and has been enjoying decent wine ever since. For the last 10 years, Alison has worked in e-commerce, web and multi-media production and marketing and communication positions. Her role at Smith & Hall combines her digital production knowledge with solid marketing and communications skills. Alison’s main responsibility is overall marketing strategy and digital communications, although she loves to write when the opportunity arises. She recently compiled and edited the Smith & Hall “Guide to Art as an Investment” – a frighteningly good read and a must for those new to art investment.
Nyssa Mullooly
Office Assistant
Our office assistant is a recent graduate from Wollongong University with a BA Creative Arts and BA Arts (Majoring in Australian Studies). Although Australian born, we let her barrack for the All Blacks due to her New Zealand relatives! Nyssa is interested in expanding her existing knowledge of Aboriginal Art and Culture, and already worked as an intern at Wollongong City Gallery before coming to us in January 2010. She loves a busy, creative environment and is finding Smith & Hall the perfect place to start her career. Originally focused on curatorial as a potential career path, she is enjoying learning how the whole business operates from the ground up. Nyssa is very taken with the electric colours used by Adam Cullen, Craig Waddell's Rosters, and Tim Maguire's abstract flower prints.
Philip Freeman
Head of Art Advisory
Originally hailing from Manchester in the UK, Philip started his career in the world of finance and credit control before moving into a senior position with recruiting firm, Apple Recruitment, in their banking and finance department. During the 1990’s, Philip moved to Ireland with the “Celtic Tiger” boom and worked for 4 years with Manpower. After achieving astounding success for the company, Philip took some time out to travel around Europe and Australia. During this time, Philip’s appreciation and knowledge of fine art grew and so when offered a position in the art world a few years later, it was an opportunity not to be missed. He has since been in the industry for almost a decade and started with Smith & Hall in early 2006. He finds that his past experience and love of the arts combines perfectly in a working environment that focuses on client driven service, education about new markets and wealth creation. Philip also has his own amazing collection that includes several pieces by his favourite artists such as James Powditch, Tim Maguire, Jasper Knight and Tim Storrier.

Matthew Dawson
Senior Art Advisor
Matthew joined Smith & Hall in the early years of 2004 and is one of the most experienced Art Advisors of the team. Matthew comes from a family of keen art collectors and has a sound understanding of financial and investment markets. He has over 12 years sales and business development experience having held senior positions in the tourism industry in both Australia and Japan. One of Matt's favourite artists is Craig Ruddy, however he also has a soft spot for the Aboriginal artists from the central desert, such as Ronnie Tjampitjinpa and Walala Tjapaltjarri.
Julian Edwards
Senior Art Advisor
Born in Oxford, England, Julian moved to Australia 9 years ago. His interest for art was nurtured from an early age by his father, a professional musician, and his mother, an artist. One of Julian’s earliest memories is being dragged along to his Mum’s exhibitions in London as she helped cultivate his passion and interest for the arts. Now many of those artists who inspired him in his younger years are considered personal friends. Julian has always brought passion, integrity and drive to his career in sales and marketing. Before starting with Smith & Hall nearly 4 years ago Julian helped manage two different retail outlets specializing in Aboriginal art. Julian has an eclectic taste in visual art and many of his favourite artists come from the Bristol graffiti scene, Australian Indigenous art and young emerging Australian artists such as Craig Ruddy and James Powditch. He is also involved in the local arts community as a volunteer for the Contempo Committee at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
Jon Reade
Senior Art Advisor
Jon’s interest in art started in his early twenties when he was back packing through Europe. Originally from Bedfordshire, Jon regularly visited Cornwall and spent much of his time studying the art coming out of the region. During that time he was particularly drawn to artists such as Terry Frost, Paul Feiler, Patrick Heron and Ben Nicholson. In 1995, Jon’s career in IT took him up to the South Yorkshire city of Sheffield where, as a hobby, he set up a local modern art discussion group which allowed him to not only paint but also develop his understanding of art history. As part of his worldwide travels, Jon visited Australia in 2000 and since deciding to immigrate to Sydney not long after, officially became a citizen in 2007. Outside of contemporary Aboriginal art, Jon’s other love is soccer and he currently plays for Balmain Soccer club in Sydney’s inner west. Jon has a diploma in Contemporary Aboriginal Art and has also recently completed his diploma in Australian Art History through Curtin University in Perth, WA. Jon’s favourite artists include, Ben Nicholson, Amedeo Modigliani, Maggie Watson Napangardi and Tommy Watson.
Vickie Yorke
Senior Art Advisor
Vickie is originally from New Zealand, however has spent a lifetime travelling and working all over the world, within a variety of creative positions. With an extremely adventurous nature, Vickie prefers the more extreme locations around the world to inspire her artistic endeavours. This exposure to varied cultures has encouraged her to become an avid collector of significant American Indian jewellery, antiquities, art and other collectables. Vickie has been heavily influenced by and greatly admires Indigenous artists for their modern representation of their ancient culture. She also likes the Australian masters such as Sidney Nolan, Arthur Boyd and Albert Tucker. Vickie is also an avid painter, concentrating on landscapes using a thick impasto technique and is currently working on the completion of her first solo exhibition in Sydney.

Sally Ritter
Art Advisor
Sally comes to Smith and Hall with over 10 years experience in relationship management and sales and marketing roles in the finance and investment industry. She obtained a Diploma in Financial Markets from the industry body FINSIA and has also undertaken several courses in early Australian history and creative writing. Sally’s passion for art was ignited during her first trip to Rome as a teenager when she was overwhelmed by the beauty of the art that adorns the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. She has since traveled extensively through Europe, Asia and USA visiting the local galleries and museums. Sally’s favorite home grown talents include the likes of Emily Kngwarreye, Ningurra Napurrula & David Boyd.
Alicia Parlby
Art Advisor
Alicia is the latest member of the art advisory team and has a Diploma in Business, PR and Marketing and a degree in Art History from the college of Fine Arts, UNSW. After leaving university, she undertook an internship with a gallery on the North Shore and went on to work with renowned auction house Deutscher Menzies in Client Services and Arts Administration. Working amongst some of the great Australian masterpieces cemented her love of the art market and Australian artists. A lover of travel, Alicia has lived in both the USA and Canada. She enjoys writing and sometime in the future hopes to write a book that combines her love of and art and travel - she has already been published in the Art Gallery of NSW's journal, Look. Alicia's favourite artists and designers include Louis Comfort Tiffany, Brett Whiteley and Tim Maguire.

Emma Smith
Head of Leasing
After completing a Bachelor of Commerce in 2000, Emma moved to Sydney and has been involved in the industry for over 10 years. She has held various positions in marketing and events including several years as the marketing manager for London Art Fair and other major international events. Her favourite artists include Craig Waddell and Ben Quilty.
Joanna Horrocks
Art Rental Advisor
With a passion for art and design and a keen eye for detail, Joanna studied History of Art at Bristol University, graduating in 2002. Originally from the north of England, she moved to London after university, gaining work experience at Proud Galleries, Christies and Bonhams Auctioneers. Most recently, Joanna has been working for an international art consultancy where she continued to develop her knowledge in contemporary art, with a special interest in contemporary photography. She enjoys the consultational element of her role in the Art Rental division, placing work by top Australian artists with businesses and corporations both big and small. Her favourite artists include the works of Gloria Petyarre and Tania Mason.
Andre de Borde
Head Curator
Andre has been involved in the Art industry for the past 16 years. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in 1997 from the College of Fine Arts (UNSW), majoring in painting and drawing. As well as having a keen sense for other artists work, Andre has also regularly exhibited his own work in Sydney and Melbourne as well as many regional areas of NSW. He was also accepted for the Artist in Residency Program as part of the Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Bundanon Trust with a month working on both of the Boyd properties in the Shoalhaven. His passion for the arts is reflected in his relationships and respect for the artists he works alongside at Smith & Hall. Andre has a great passion for the work of the English artist Francis Bacon and the unorthodox painting and sculpture techniques of German artist Anselm Kiefer. Andre has been a collector of art and art literature for many years and sees the support of Australian Art and Artists as his vocation.
